‘Weekly Photo Review’ (WPR) was established by a group of photographers that share a common goal of spurring artistic and technical growth through honest and thoughtful critiques of each others work. Photography, like most art forms, is a subjective medium of expression. Even so, there are principles and technical standards which may be applied by an individual when judging for oneself the artistic merit of an image.
Personal experience, taste, and technical knowledge are but a few of the subjective tools employed when analyzing an image. The subjective nature of these methods will mean that not every viewer of an image will comprehend or agree with the perspective of the photographer. Therefore, though an unfavorable critique may sting initially, it is just an opinion meant for the development of the artist and technician. With that said, each photographer accepted into the WPR project is endeavoring to meet the challenge of creating & posting a minimum of one image to the site every week. IT is then the responsibility of every other member of WPR to post a thoughtful and well-informed critique or comment on the submitted image
The rules are simple:
1 ) Every photographer must submit an image weekly, unless physically unable to do so.
2 ) Every member of WPR must offer a critique of every image submission. Though the critique may apply to a group of images and not necessarily be required for every single image if a series is submitted.
3 ) Critiques shall be based upon the artistic & technical merit as discerned by the reviewer. Critiques and comments are not to be value judgment upon the subject matter or attempts to condemn a photographer for his vision.
4 ) Reviewers offering their critiques are encouraged to ask questions of the photographer, whether they be technical or to understand the photographer’s perception or motivation for the capturing the image.
5 ) Critiques and comments are to be civil; no foul language or personal attacks will be allowed. Comments may be censored my WPR’s administrators if deemed inflammatory.
6 ) The rules are subject to change at WPR’s administrators discretion.
7 ) Though time to time there will be photo challenges issued for the weekly image submission, the general image submissions will be at the photographer’s discretion.
8 ) Member photographers are to submit images weekly; if they fail to do so for three consecutive weeks, their memberships will be suspended until they communicate with a WPR administrator and submit proof that they have captured images for the project and desire to begin submitting images once again.
9 ) Member photographers are to submit critiques and comments on a weekly basis, with the goal of commenting on each photographer’s weekly submission. Not every image needs to be critiqued or commented upon, but each weekly submission post may be critiqued as whole.

We will evaluate each request and determine whether we can accept additional photographers into the project at that time. As we continue to grow and make WPR more efficient and robust, we may be able to accept many new members, but the number of participants will be intentionally kept low as we ramp up and modify the structure of our site.
