Post Directions

Post Titles
1) Use pithy titles. The shorter the better, but make them descriptive.

SEO Details and Additional Style
1) Not required, but feel free to add descriptions and keywords if you’d like.

Post Tags
1) Apply tags as you like within reason.

Categories
1) if your post relates to the weekly photo submission, then select the category with your name from under the ‘weekly’ parent category. Use only one category per post!!! The category name is how the blog determines where to display the post. Image submission should only show up on the front page within the small blocks allocated for these entries.

Post Image and Thumbnail
1) Do not define anything within this section of the new post page. The thumbnail is defined under ‘Post Thumbnail’ in the sidebar on the right side.

Multimedia Box Options
1) Do not define anything here. We may explore this in the future, but currently it is not used.

Excerpt
1) You may define a short description of your post to be used on pages where the full post is not shown, such as on archive pages.

Send Trackbacks
1) Do not define anything here unless you have a really good reason to do so.

Custom Fields
1) See the usage of ‘dfcg-image’ below in the ‘Slider photo’ section.

Discussion
1) Do not deselect the ‘Allow Comments’ option as the point of this site is to receive critiques and comments.

Post Author
1) Your name should be here based on your login. Do not select anyone else’s name.

Post images
1) Maximum width = 900px
2) Please do not load full res images and keep the total number of images reasonable! This site could get large and slow very quickly otherwise.
3) You can host your images elsewhere, just be sure to embed them into the post using the proper full url. Photobucket, Flickr, or our personal sites are good options.
4) Please keep watermarks, names, etc… to a minimum. I’d actually prefer the images be void of any graphics overlays. If you want to protect your photos, leave the meta data intact.

Slider photo
1) Dimensions = 957×250
2) Size your image however you’d like it to be displayed in the slider. Images are automatically centered and will be clipped if too large. I may resize this once I figure out the optimal size.
3) To define the image used for the slider, go down to the ‘Custom Fields’ section on the new post page. Select the ‘dfcg-image’ code snippet from the dropdown box and place the url to your image in the ‘value’ field.

Thumbnail
1) Automatically sized for front page block. Select ‘Set thumbnail’ from the new post page and locate the image of yours that you’d like to use within the ‘Media Library’. Accept the defaults and click ‘Use as thumbnail’. It should now show up on the bottom right-hand side of the new post page.
