Amicalola Falls :: John H

This weekend before sunrise, I found myself driving with my daughter up to Amicalola Falls State Park, in Georgia. Last time I was here was about 4 years back in the early summer. It’s interesting seeing the falls without greenery – everything is extremely brown! That’s nice, but makes for a very limited color range in the images; and the falls were kicking off a lot of spray on the bridge near the top, which didn’t make me keen to stay too long (partly for my camera’s sake, and partly because it was about 40 degrees and the spray was freezing us!). On the up side, my daughter had a fantastic time, and thoroughly enjoyed taking her own pictures of the day!

So for WPR, I’ve decided to share four “water” pictures, each showing a slightly different view on our trip.

On the way back, we bumped into the Kangaroo Conservation Center – but I fear that’s a post for another day.

    John,
    Thank for sharing. I think the lack of green worked out for you here. I’ve seen photos of this waterfall a few times and I never liked the wood bridge in the shot but now that everything is brown it sort of works. :-)

    The third photo is really nice. Our brain tells us that the water is coming in from the top left and flowing down and out to the bottom right. The composition is nice and clean. Well done…

    The last frame, I must admit I’m jealous of. I’ve always wanted to do something with reflections but I can never seen to remember to look down. :-( I have made thousands of photos over the last few years and I don’t think I have one. :-( Well done. :-)
