Japan :: Narita
Liana and I didn’t have long in Japan, we were only there for about 9 hours during our layover. It was about 7:00 in the morning when we jumped onto a train for the short 10 minute ride into Narita. After a quick breakfast at a bakery right on the train station platform we then ventured further into town and visited the Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Unfortunately, it was a foggy morning so the sky was completely white, which made for some tricky shooting conditions. Hopefully I was still able to get some enjoyable photos.

love these shots… can’t believe you guys only had nine hours there! better get back sometime soon! 
I was just thinking – what would I do with a 9 hour layover? Respect for getting out there and seeing things (and shooting!). The colors in #4 are so rich. I like the contrast in #5 – on the left are we seeing that fogginess, or steam rising up from something? The lines of the paving grab your eyes hard and pull you into the photograph.

Christine – I’d love to get back someday. Japan is high on my list of places to explore. I’ll definitely contact you and Clinton if and when that happens.
John – That is smoke in #5, it is coming from the large pot, for lack of a better word, behind the guy. I believe the people behind him are lighting incense. The colors in #4 really were that vibrant, though I did have to tweak it a bit in Lightroom, as is evidenced by the ‘enhanced’ CA in the trees on the bottom right. I should probably clean that up as to not distract from the beautiful pagoda.
I really dig the color and the abstract POV in the 4th shot.
